School of Motion Title Sequence

Client

School of Motion Workshop

Year

2022

This project was created as part of a School of Motion workshop, with the goal of building a complete animated title sequence from a supplied set of 3D assets.

I used Cinema 4D to shape the sequence from the ground up: composing the shots, building the scene layouts, adjusting materials, changing character poses, lighting each frame, and preparing the renders.

Once the stills had a clear cinematic direction, I added subtle animation to bring the shots to life, rendered the full sequence, then handled post-production through colorimetry, title cards, sound, and final finishing.

Final Video

A complete animated title sequence built from supplied 3D assets and finished as a cinematic motion piece.

The final sequence turns the workshop assets into a cohesive opening title piece, with each shot designed around composition, mood, rhythm, and readable cinematic staging.

The animation stays intentionally subtle, giving the still frames enough life and atmosphere while keeping the focus on visual direction, typography, sound, and final polish.

Process Overview

The pipeline moved from 3D composition to animation, rendering, and final post-production.

The project was approached as a full production exercise: transforming existing assets into a directed sequence rather than simply rendering individual stills.

Each stage helped define the final tone, from the Cinema 4D scene construction to the final color, typography, and sound pass.

01

Scene Build

Built the compositions in Cinema 4D using the supplied workshop assets, with attention to framing, scale, depth, and shot readability.

02

Look Development

Adjusted materials, character poses, and lighting to create stronger atmosphere and make each frame feel intentional.

03

Animation

Added restrained motion to the still compositions, using subtle movement to give the sequence life without overloading the shots.

04

Finishing

Completed the project through rendering, colorimetry, title card design, sound work, and final post-production adjustments.

01 - Cinema 4D Direction

The first stage focused on turning the provided assets into cinematic compositions.

I started by building the sequence inside Cinema 4D, arranging the supplied assets into shots that could work as a connected title sequence. The goal was to create strong compositions with clear silhouettes, depth, and visual hierarchy.

This stage included scene layout, camera placement, character posing, and material adjustments, giving each frame a distinct role inside the final edit.

Composition

Built each shot around clear framing, foreground/background separation, and a readable visual path for the eye.

Asset Direction

Reworked the provided assets through layout, scale, material choices, and character posing to make the scene feel more authored.

02 - Motion & Render

Subtle animation was added to make the still frames feel alive and sequence-ready.

After the visual direction was established, I introduced controlled animation to bring movement into the shots. The animation was kept subtle so the piece could preserve the strength of the still compositions while gaining pacing and atmosphere.

The sequence was then rendered out from Cinema 4D, with the render stage focused on preserving the mood, lighting balance, and cinematic quality of the frames.

Subtle Movement

Used restrained motion to support the shots, adding life without turning the sequence into over-animated visual noise.

Render Prep

Prepared the rendered shots for post-production with attention to image quality, contrast, and consistency across the full sequence.

03 - Post-Production

The final pass brought the renders into a finished title sequence through color, typography, sound, and timing.

Post-production was used to unify the rendered shots and push the project into a finished motion-design piece. I refined the colorimetry, built the title cards, adjusted the edit rhythm, and added sound to support the final mood.

This finishing stage helped the project feel complete, connecting the 3D visuals, typography, pacing, and sound into one coherent title sequence.
